The answer is 'it depends'. To render gadgets then you just need to be able to generate valid gadget rendering URLs for iframes that point to the gadget rendering domain. Those URLs will typically have to include an encrypted security token that the gadget rendering server can decrypt into an instance of the SecurityToken interface in Shindig so you will want to share the code that can do that.
