Chris, This is likely to come up multiple times (I've previously had the same question myself). I summarized your note on the front page of the shindig wiki (http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SHINDIG/Index). Thought about starting a FAQ but wasn't sure if there was already one lying around--I'll look later if I get moment.
btw... If we are going use this wiki, the maybe we could add a few links to it. For example, adding to the wiki is one easy way for someone to contribute to the project. It might be worth considering a link on the "Contribute" page of http://incubator.apache.org/shindig. Granted, this was an unsolicited .02, but given the economy, any amount of money is a good thing.... Cheers! -Mark W. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mark Weitzel | STSM | IBM Software Group | (919) 543 0625 | [email protected] From: Chris Chabot <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Date: 12/16/2008 08:34 AM Subject: Re: Shindig branches +1 on the explanation :) On Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 8:45 AM, Ian Boston <[email protected]> wrote: > :), > We spend some time talking about version numbers, and after extended > discussion decided that we should use the standard version numbering scheme, > disconnected from the OpenSocial Specification numbers. > > So, at one time (before we settled on the above) we had a branch called > 0.8.1-x.... that branch was deprecated (and quickly removed to avoid > confusion... bad practice on my part probably, sorry) > > So the 1.0.x-incubating branch represents Shinding's implementation of the > OpenSocial 0.8.1 specification, from which we are in the process of cutting > a 1.0.0 release. > > Trunk is now targeting 1.0.1 which will probably implement the OpenSocial > 0.9 specification. > > To recap..... > > The branch is branches/1.0.x-incubating > > > > I think thats right.... please someone shout if not. > Ian > > > On 16 Dec 2008, at 16:31, Rajdeep Dua wrote: > > Hi all, >> Wanted to know how many branches do we have for Shindig. >> I am aware about 0.8.1 as well as the trunk. >> >> I saw some checkins on 1.0.x branch..is this a new branch? >> >> Thanks >> Rajdeep >> > >
