Chris, 
This is likely to come up multiple times (I've previously had the same 
question myself).  I summarized your note on the front page of the shindig 
wiki (http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SHINDIG/Index).  Thought 
about starting a FAQ but wasn't sure if there was already one lying 
around--I'll look later if I get moment.

btw... If we are going use this wiki, the maybe we could add a few links 
to it.  For example, adding to the wiki is one easy way for someone to 
contribute to the project.  It might be worth considering a link on the 
"Contribute" page of http://incubator.apache.org/shindig.

Granted, this was an unsolicited .02, but given the economy, any amount of 
money is a good thing....
