some samples in the JS folder don't work

In the shindig/javascript/container directory, the samples sample4.html and
sample5.html don't work as documented. The text says "Reload page and make sure
each userpref is incremented.", but when I reload the page, the prefs remain
the same (1). When I change the prefs by clicking "settings" and then "save",
the prefs are saved, and I see the prefs I entered plus 1, but it does not
increment further when I reload the page.
the sample sample7.html also does not work as documented. It says "On page
load, the title above should say "Set Title Demo Module".", but it is actually
"Sample: settitle support". Clicking the button "Change title to new title"
causes a lot of page refreshes, but no title change.
