Chris Chabot updated SHINDIG-68:
--------------------------------
Comment: was deleted
(was: I'm sorry I'm new to this shindig thing. I was wondering what actually
needs to be specified for a gadget to display in a container, or just with a
http://<shindig_server>/gadgets/ifr?<gadget url> type request. Must the gadget
support opensocial features? I've been trying to get a basic google gwt gadget
written in java to run. it works with igoogle and the blogger program, but not
with shindig or partuza. Does Oauth have anything to do with it? something to
do with syndication. After a few attempts where it complained about the xml, i
finally got it to not complain, but it still does not render anything. Do I
need to specify the content type in the xml wrapper perhaps? Please excuse my
idioticness, i've only been finding out about all this stuff for the last few
days and there is a lot of different technologies to take in that all seem to
work together!
One last silly question, there are java and php versions, is it possible and if
so are there any benefits to using both php and java implementations? For
instance if I'm using a gwt gadget to read get data from an opensocial database
to use java calls with javascrip, when I just want to substitute html content
or run server side requests to use php?
Oh dear that has just lead me to another question, this really is the last!
What is the difference between/advantages of using the different kinds of
RESTful data format (JSON and XML). Is JSON used in javascript directly
without need for parsing or something?
Thanks for any help, I'm sorry if this is not very constructive for you to
answer such questions, when you are developers, perhaps once I've figured it
all out I might be of some use to the open source development and be able to
help rather than ask for help.
Regards, Dan

> Sorry! Gadget cannot be displayed until all required settings are provided.
> Shindig continues to render the gadget.
> The behavior should be similar.
