Hello everyone,
I've been looking at monitoring tools and I was interested in Shinken
particularly because of its high availability and dmz features.
But right now when you want to add a host, you have to restart the arbitrer.
Would it be possible to just reload the arbitrer or to provide an API to add
dynamically hosts.
This would enable for example the addition of hosts transparently from the
web ui without having to restart the arbitrer.
Maybe what I'm asking already exists but I'm not aware of, I've been looking
superficially in the code, I've not dived in yet.
I've been using PRTG a bit, they have a really nice interface, you can
easily add new hosts and new services to monitor, and they provide
out of the box many WMI sensors, and even the possibility to put your own
WMI query. I have some Windows machines to monitor
and I was impressed with how easy it was to set this up.
I think it would make Shinken a little bit more user friendly to be able to
edit the configuration dynamically.
What do you think?
Sami
