yes, no matter what you do at this time. sleeping or having the 8th beer :-)

My first idea was to simply reply to the sms like you would reply to a mail
(with the original mail in quotes and also the eventid somewhere). But at
least with my android you can't do it. You start the reply with a blank
message. The only option is to forward.

Yes, this also protects better against brute-force-acknowledgers
