yes, this works the same way as the npcdmod neb module with nagios. The
module writes perfdata to a file, which is continuously read and emptied
by the npcd daemon. By default the rrd archives are on the local host. But
with simple setting in the process_perfdata.cfg of pnp4nagios, you can
setup a scenario, where pnp4nagios doesn't update local rrds, but contacts
a remote rrdcached, so that you have your archives written to a remote
server's disk.
