Especially variable handling could probaly redefined in a more convient way than it has to be done in the nagios syntax. [switched just yesterday to 2.0.3 available from debian unstable and noticed after adding a debug statement: Debug : [ui-graphite] file=/home/shinken/src/etc/graphite-templates/check_disk_$_HOSTDISK_LOAD_PEAK_DB$.graph I found a simple workaround, but that filename looks ugly.] > > - Scalability / Realm > > - High customization with modules > > - High availability feature > > > > To conclude this part we state that Shinken was not a "must-have" for > > small IT structure but for bigger one. If you define "small" as only within one network - ok. A big plus of shinken is the distributed nature, which allows to monitor serveral (private) networks without giving a central host access to all those. A well known german IT magazine warned recently about the security risks for a company with centralised monitoring host. That - besides beeing written in python ;-) - was our main reason. > Just a remark: if you did choose Shinken for another reason we will be hapy > to know it.
