Mine also fails with book.rb, as well as racetrack.rb on the Shoebox.
This is on 10.4.11 with Ruby 1.8.4 and shoes 0.r396.

Hi Ernest,
I'm using the latest version on Leopard (10.5.2).
I am using the installation of Ruby that came with the OS, and have
only upgraded Ruby-Gems and Rails to their latest versions.
I was using the curious build, which is the one that fails when
trying to open the books.rb example.

Has anyone had any issues with Shoes and Leopard ?? I have
downloaded the stable release and Shoes crashes when using things
like .each_with_index (books.rb example) and also crashes when
using links which match to a method using a regexp (examples taken
from 'Nobody knows Shoes') ??
I also tried building from source using the instructions on the
wiki, but that version of Shoes won't even load a script. The
choose file box appears but which ever script I choose crashes Shoes.
A few questions:
a) What version of Leopard?
b) Have you installed any other versions of Ruby or additional gems?
c) Are you using the "curious" build?
