Ubuntu 7.10 is what I use. You're using the tarball and running
`make VIDEO=1`? And you've got both `vlc` and `libvlc0-dev` debs
installed?

It is as you have said :)
I just looked them up in Synaptic - they are there. I have shoes raisins
installed (not just built) and I'll just type shoes into the terminal
and then use the browser to open simple-video.rb. A shoes window opens
up, but it is only grey.
Now, I think when I first built it I just did a regular make, but then
built it again with 'make VIDEO=1'. Might that be the problem? If so,
how can I uninstall to reinstall?
