You've been doing all that Hpricot stuff, and Hpricot is part of shoes,
and you didn't expect to be prompted to do that, so calling it an excuse
is too negative. It's more like a jolly good reason for the delay.
And we can also assume you meant the 11th in the first place, you just
read it as binary by mistake when giving the previous date. :-)
