Very strange (and slightly disappointing). In the interests of
science, what OS are you running on? (I developed it on Mac OS X).
You might drop a debug(...) into the animation loop and see if that
code is getting called at all.

For the Shoes experts reading this, what I *think* I want is an
abstraction
where I can pre-generate all the <span> elements, and use
<element>.replace
to swap in highlighted and un-highlighted versions of the text.
That seems
tantamount to computing things off-screen, and I haven't figured
out how to
do that yet.

console either. It just shows the time at first render and stays
