Robert (and anyone else using gmail):

Find the "Mute" button under "More actions." It will archive the current
thread and keep the thread archived, even if there are new posts to it. For
example, when the topic of Fedora and x64 came up, I muted it, since it has
no bearing to how I use Shoes. It's still in gmail in case I ever need it...
but that thread will never again pop into my inbox.
