Let me 2nd, 3rd and 7th all the ... "This is Great!" comments.
I'm really at the beginner stage, I had in mind some small things I waned to mock-up on the gui side of life, and I'm still looking at that. This may be more of a feature request. I'd prefer it if Shoes let me use other Ruby tools in a more or less transparent way. That may not be exactly possible, I can't fathom the status of the "Shoes.app" element just yet. Is it a container, a method, an object or a block(lambda)? I wondering if anyone considers that it would be a good thing if Shoes could work with something like Needle or even Sinatra to build little apps out of lego-blocks? I'm sure discussion on that topic will be informing. One totally different thing (or may be not). Shoes looks a lot like the Suneido micro-database concept. http://www.suneido.com/ And I believe that's a compliment. People should go check it out. In many ways Suneido and Ruby would be a top environment imho. Both could benefit from the possibilities of being able to use other tools. Shoes has the advantage of using a public language so in concept we can "plug in" gems and modules. I did find building non-trivial forms and layouts with Suneido by had wasn't my favourite way to use a Saturday. I have a suggestion for both Shoes and Suneido, take a look at importing XUL, XAML or XRC files that can be made up using wysiwyg tools. That saves a lot of time and keeps the messy plumbing well out of the way. Again, I expect another stimulating discussion. :-) Cheers, \_w_/ 2009/8/4 Ed Heil <[email protected]>: > _why <[email protected]> writes: > >> My hope is to release the final version by September 7th.
