Hello everyone, I am keen to join Shogun for the Google Summer of Code and there are two projects I am very interested in: Large-Scale Gaussian Processes and Fundamental ML: LGSSMs. The latter project was actually proposed by Heiko and me for last year’s GSoC.
I will get started on some entrance tasks straight away, if there are any pressing things I should begin with please let me know! A bit about myself: I did a Master’s in Machine Learning at UCL and then spent one year working on latent dynamical systems at the Gatsby Unit (UCL). Now I am at a data science consultancy startup - swhere (.com) - applying machine learning to big, messy datasets. Subject to funding approval in the next months, I will begin a PhD in Cambridge (on the Cambridge-Tuebingen joint programme) working with Carl Rasmussen and Zoubin Ghahramani. I plan to focus on approximate inference and on Gaussian Process State Space Models (GPSSMs). Really excited about a Shogun summer! Alessandro (github: ialong)
