Dear GSoC students, so you know, midterm evaluation is incoming, on the 27th. This means GSoC is half over! (phew!! :) )
* Well done! * We are excited about the work all of you have been doing so far, and how active the IRC channel feels these days. Great work on the cookbooks everyone -- you are helping to give Shogun a facelift. * Admin * Make sure to fill in your forms in order to receive your stipends. * Revise schedules* All of the projects we are doing this year are very involved. You might have well noticed that your schedules are not valid anymore. This is why we ask you to provide us with a re-vised schedule, with updated deliverables for end of GSoC. Use you experience so far to decide what you think you will be able to do with the rest of the time you have. In particular, don't be afraid to cut out things of the initial schedule at the benefit of doing good work on the things you attempt. Please send this to your mentors *before* midterm. Also, be ready to be challenged on the changes and to discuss. * stand-ups * The irc standups are a bit sloppy. We decided that it would be good if you sent your mentor a *daily* (the days you do work, so 5 on average) email containing 2 sentences about what you have done. (In addition to the plan/review email to the list on Mondays) We think this makes it easier for us to understand to amount of work (and pain) you are undergoing :) It takes less than 1 minute. Please do that from now on. * Keeping track of you contributions * For the release after GSoC, you should already have a list of your contributions ready, that will go to the NEWS file :) * Meeting * We will have another GSoC meeting in IRC after midterm has passed, I will send a doodle shortly.
