Hi Jayesh,

Thanks for getting in touch!
I am including in the CC our mailing list (which you always should to keep
everyone in the loop, and in case someone has a similar question).

To start with your contribution to Shogun, the very first step is to send at
least one patch. Note that his is a hard requirement to be accepted for GSoC.
This can be anything, related to your project of interest or on a completely
different topic (like fixing a known issue, adding a new example showcasing
something that appeals you). If you need inspiration for an initial task, you
can check out our list of entrance issues
<https://github.com/shogun-toolbox/shogun/labels/good%20first%20issue> that you
can find on github. Giovanni has compiled a list of the relevant links to get
started which I’ve added at the end.

Note that contributing during the GSoC application period is a requirement. We
want you to get familiar with general ways of working in open source and with
Shogun.

For the Disease Data project itself, I suggest you to read well the project
description, get familiar with the concepts described, explore from the links,
and of course feel free to ask any questions - your suggestions sound
interesting, but very vague: what exactly is it that you’re proposing (please
send a proposal with a detailed timeline) and what is it that you need help
with?

Happy to discuss further then.
Lea
