Well, the "frequency matching" was not what we think of as frequency
matching. It was a matching of heft rather than stiffness. The frequency was
the pendulum frequency when you let the club swing as a pendulum from its
butt. So it was closer to swingweight or MOI matching than frequency
matching.

That was the theory, anyway. In the early '90s a buddy of mine played with a
set of Sounders, and one day I took them home and measured them (length,
swingweight, and frequency). Just looked in my records, and I still have the
sheet. Here are the specs as measured:

    3i 39" D2 277cpm
    4i 38.5 D1 279
    5i 38 C9.5 292
    6i 37.5 D0 298
    7i 37.25 D0.5 295
    8i 37 D1 302
    9i 36.5 D0.5 305

So much for the numbers. Now an editorial opinion:

Except for the possibility that it was intentional to go to 1/4" intervals
from 6i to 7i to 8i (and then back to 1/2" at 9i), there seems to be no
rhyme or reason to the "matching". I don't consider this very high quality.
Well, it may be intentional that the heaviest swingweight is the longest
iron; but they certainly didn't continue a smooth progression from there.

Cheers!
