I finally connected with my +1 index friend who made a set of NearNet cavity backs (5, 6) and blades (7-LW).
I was very surprised to find out that he didn't have a scale, so I can't comment on the weights other than he said that they were marked on the heads from Raven and were within spec. He did have the lofts and lies checked by another clubmaker and they were spot on. Visually the two CBs looked VERY slightly shorter heel to toe than the blades. However, this could well be due to the slightly thicker top line and more rounded toe contours. Another friend (2 index) tried the clubs and liked the blades better than the CBs. Better feel. The set's owner is going to replace the CBs with blades. He couldn't really explain why. I really think it is just so they all look the same at address. He has replaced his Vokey SW and LW with the NearNets. He likes the wedges very much. (He shot 1 under at Poppy Hills the first time he used the set, so they can't be too bad). He put stiff TT TX-90s in the set and they didn't work for me. His demo clubs used some extra "no name" shafts he had laying around and they suited me perfectly. I was a little surprised at how much different the feel was. All in all a wonderful looking set of clubs. /Ed
