rattle created by a plug that I pushed into a driver head

If the plug is plastic you could try melting it out with the flame from a micro torch. Otherwise I would suggest coating some knitting yarn with epoxy and stuffing enough of it through the bottom of the hosel to capture the plug. Without coating the yarn you will have to really stuff a large amount into the head.
I have tried the "mouse glue" method and found it to be quite messy. I have also spent too much time lying on my back, wearing safety goggles and picking out these nasty rattlers.
In the future you will use a "tube brush" in your electric drill to clean out the hosels so this won't happen again. Use a 3/8" stainless steel brush, cost about $3 and lasts for several hundred heads. Available at tool supply companies. No handle so it chucks nicely in a hand drill.
