Hi;

I tried the SC for a couple of rounds. I hit it well on the range but couldn't bring it to the course. So, I put an old 16 "Loose Truth" together with a Grafalloy 3.5 stiff shaft. The LT is as I recall the very first Adams knockoff. Again, it was great on the range but terrible on the course. So . . . I hauled out my 18 and my 23 TM Rescues. Hit them terrible on the range and great on the course. I found the "problem" the same day.

Our pro was watching me flail away at range balls and asked the question "what the hell are you doing, bobbing for apples?" Once again I had fallen into the curse of my game. I have a tendency to overdo the back swing. Turning too far causes my head and therefore my entire body to come up a couple of inches. That then results it either a reverse pivot or a topped shot, or both. So, simply shortening the swing (in my case, left shoulder under the chin as far as possible) and getting over to the left side solved the skinny shot problems.

I imagine this will last for about a week, when no doubt I'll become a lazy oaf again and start the cycle all over. You'd think that after 50+ years of playing this unforgiving game with pretty much the same problem, I'd figure it out. When I win the lottery I'm going to hire a guy to walk around with me. His job will be to smack me atop the noggin each time I start the bob and weave crap.

BTW: Remember the "Crotch Hook" that was on the market for a while? It consisted of a headband to which was affixed a length of cord. At the end of the cord was attached a large steel fishhook, sans barb. You place the band on your head with the cord hanging over your face. Adjust for length and connect the hook into your crotch. Then take practice swings. I haven't seen one around lately. I'd imagine one of those little gems would help in the "lifting up" department. If not, wel hell, a guy could sing soprano in Aida.

Tom,
        Whatever happened with the 3 Wood problem? How did that SC work?
