Can you see any small scratches that appear to be under the chrome? The steel shaft is copperplated, buffed sometimes plated (copper) again, buffed Than chrome plated. If one plating of copper and no buffing you will see scratches which were on the steel. These are the quality criterias of good finish.  I also noted the frequency differences. I was always a fan of the stepped steel shafts from Appollo (price), always thought the only good thing about Ballistic was in the area of inventory reduction but the price offset that advantage.
