Jorgen, I am not trying to steal your thunder and I admit that I am in
no position to present myself as even a club maker yet but I saw that
trick done years ago.  While visiting with a neighbor and eventually a
fellow golfer, I watched him change a set of grips using air and no
solvent, took him less than 15 minutes to do the set.  Worked like a
champ even for putting the grips on as well.  When I started doing my
own club work I too use that method.  I did find however that some of
the old clubs I picked up at garage sales, one I use for practicing club
making and repair, I did have to us a solvent to free some of the grips.
