Mark,
Look in the GEA archives ( 4gea.com ) there are several threads
about this head. Most like it.

The most prevalent reason for people liking/disliking these types
heads appears to be their offset. Some heads just don't look right
or set up properly to some people. (I have to thrown in face height
as one thing I concern myself with).

The best thing to do, if you can, is to demo one (easier said
than done in most cases :-)

My own search lead me to try a friend's 24* Tour Edge "Iron Wood"
http://www.touredge.com/products/mens/ironwood.html
(they also make a "Wood Iron" that is more Wood-like). It was
heaven, for me, much better than Quick Strikes. I stole one on
eBay for a total of $30. I got a Stiff flex, which as my friend's,
played fairly soft. (Only OEM club in my bag, other than putter).

Feeling good, I got an 18* and a 16* (like new, $100 for both),
also in Stiff. HOWEVER, these shaft's WEREN'T soft. The heads
take .370 (iron) shafts. I tried a Mach 22 iron shaft and the
16* just wouldn't fly high. Then I read Wishon's description of
his Traker shafts (also .370) and read that regular iron shafts
aren't the answer for utility clubs (nor or wood shafts). I thought
they were the solution until I heard they aren't available because
of the Traker naming issue. (Still need to call and see if there
is anyway to get one).

/Ed

I was hoping to find a 16* in this club due to the fact that I
    already have a 12* 3+wood and an 8.5* driver...I go from that to a 21.5*
3 iron in my old eye2 lofts. I need an intermediate club as well as
a hopefully 200-225yd. club. And since I would like to add a
gap wedge at 54* this year, that pretty well will take care of my 14
clubs. I'll probably start leaving a club in the car depending
on the course I'm playing. Thanks for the info. I will look at Toms
    "long irons" too.

Hi Mark,
I have been using the 14 deg. Quick Strike and am very
comfortable with the lack of offset. I hit the club higher and
farther than my old Tommy Armour (dogleg offset) 345s 1 iron.
Just don't play the club too far forward or build it too long.
Don't have the numbers on the offset-see if you can get your
hands on one to look at.
You might want to check out Tom Wishon's Tracker "Long Irons". I
think I'll give his 17 deg. version a try along with the
matching shaft.
Good luck,
Greg

Hey Royce,
How much offset does this club have? I am seeing a lot of
these clubs with waaaay too much for me.
Thanks,
Mark

Try the Snake Eyes QuickStrike from Golfsmith. I use
'em, and every one of my customers who has tried them
raves about them.

Could anyone recommend a manufacturer of component
heads that makes a good utility head similar to the
Adams
or Taylor Made rescue. I have always hit these well
and have finally decided to add one or to to my bag. Mark Linder
