I have been asked to put together an all or almost all wood set for a guy. He found the Bang SF heads too large so I am probably going with the venerable 948c from Hireko as it goes up to a 15w.
The only real problem I have with this is what is the next logical club after the 15w. It is obviously n iron but I am not sure what the cutoff is the best. been thinking that 9i, PW, SW makes the most sense but would like some guidance. Will be using steel shafts(Dynalight) other than graphite in the driver.
Brian, I don't know the answer to your question, but here are a couple of data points.
If he hits his woods and irons like me, the first iron is about a 40* loft. The small "gap" is because woods hit the ball higher and further than irons at the same loft -- at least that's how I hit them.
BUT... if he wants all those woods, he probably doesn't hit irons at all well. I played with a guy once who had that set makeup (948c woods all the way to #15). His first and only iron was a sand wedge. (Maybe he had a PW too, but if so he only used it for chipping -- no full swings.)
Hope this helps, DaveT
