I have the bell unit and have tested it against some of the other models. Nobody seems to agree on swing speed within 3-5 mph but the Bell unit reads any kind of clubhead more often without having to add metal tape or anything. I don't think it's any more (or less) susceptible to collisions with the clubhead than any of the others in the same price range.
