When I saw David's note, I tried to find a map of where the fire was and how far it had spread. It now extends from Simi Valley (north and west of LA) to San Bernadino (in the mountains east of LA) then south to the Mexican border. Houses are burning in the San Diego area.
The LA Times newspaper web-site has a map that shows the various fires around the region ...
