Prof T; What shaft is in the Hypersteel? I have just encountered the very same problem described in this thread originally. I have an 19 handicapper who simply cannot hit a medium iron or fairway. I've let him hit my TM/R flex Bubbles.
Tom,
Bear in mind that I was not trying to clone a Taylor Made, so there is no attempt to emulate the Bubble shaft.
I have an interesting collection of Hypersteels with different shafts:
* A 22* Hypersteel (I use it instead of a 3-iron) with a Balistik (original Apollo, not the Hireko "Apollo").
* A 19* and a 16* with SK Fiber Tour Trac 100 shafts. They are cut most of a flex (about 7-8cpm) stiffer than I'd usually go for, but they seem to work fine for me.
* A 16* with SK Fiber Tour Trac 90. I was experimenting with flighting the trajectory, and wound up cutting off so much tip it feels dead. But the earlier phases of the experiment -- with more tip -- were quite good. I'm going to try it again with a Mercury Kevlar, just to get some experience with another well-spoken-of shaft.
Again, the Hypersteel has no offset. The Rescue (and most of the look-alikes) have a lot of offset. The difference in hook vs slice is a lot more than I would have guessed.
Good luck! DaveT
