Use a 3-iron tip trim in a 5-iron....a 4-iron tip trim in a 6-iron...or a 5-iron tip trim in a 7-iron, etc. If the shaft has a tip sensitivity of about 5 cpm/inch and a full flex is 10 cpm and the recommended tip trim is 1/2" between clubs...then, a two club soft-step would reduce the club's flex by half a flex...depending on the shaft, an S could become a high R. Like Frank said, you need to have a normal shaft with no bulges to do it.

You might be able to soft-step it a couple of clubs and get your R?

Explain "soft-step" to a newbie and how you do it.!!

Thanks
