ShopTalk: question about removing shaft from a wood head

I recently was given (for free) a persimmon 4-wood club. It is a Sounder 
brand and I understand this company is no longer in business. I have the 
club repair book by Maltby and it says there are 3 different methods 
that this head was secured to the shaft.  I cannot find a pin that may 
have been put on the side. What I have observed is an indentation on the 
bottom that may imply a pin was put in from the bottom securing the shaft.
Is there anyone out there that can verify what I observed or can tell me 
just exactly how this shaft is secured to the head?
