Its not to hard to figure it out if you think about what Maltby is saying. There was a tremendous amount of research both outdoors and in that damn million dollar studio of his. I think what the picture is trying to convey is that with a high moment putter that the putt can be hit off center as much as 3/8 of an inch from the center of moment (not the sweet spot of the putter - different animals) and still maintain a proper line because of the lesser amount of twist and the less loss on inertia. the right or left is just what happens because the putt was not struck 100% solid to begin with - it is not a curve. I actually watched them demonstrate this at the Masters Academy School in Newark in October last year. Maltby has a new book coming out that will enlighten many with facts that he has discovered with all this damn research. That putter thing is a little part of what is there and Britt did that - I have the part that Ralph wrote and it is explained much clearer.
