Do any of you know where I
can find a used ball striper. They want the automatic and not a manual.
Just make one. Take a cheapie electric can opener for the "drive
motor" on the cutting wheel mount with epoxy a shaft section ending with
one of those ball picker upper rubber cups that fits (sometimes) on the end of
a putter grip. Take a second "pickerupper and mount it on a quick clamp
like those used on drill presses and gripping vises. From scrap wood make a
"lathe" that holds these with a rest for the paint brush. Open clamp,
place ball between the "cups" close clamp, start motor , ball turns,
dip brush in paint, hold brush on "rest", apply paint to ball,
turnoff motor, remove ball and store wet painted ball on rack made out of wood
with nails (3 of them) protruding as a drying tripod. Repeat procedure many,
many times. Tool should cost about $25 to build. About $8-$10 for can opener
and $6-$8 for clamp mechanism and $2-$4 for picker uppers the rest is for
hardware. Motor is geared and runs at the proper speed to stripe golfballs.
I use a similar device to "crest" arrows.
Make life easy, build a tool to do the job! Or send the job to China!
