Could it be a dynamic loft issue causing the change? I noticed the 50" had the lowest launch angle. Maybe he had slightly off centre hits with the 48" drivers (although you'd think it would be the other way around).
Maybe it is just a hotter head at that high a swing speed. Doesn't the USGA specify something like 109 mph for testing COR? If you can try the club head from the 50" driver, but at 48" length, maybe that will give you your answer.
