Tedd, Interesting answer. I must have missed Steve's Flow Alignment explanation on FGI during my "couple months" of moving.
My experience building about a dozen BOM drivers, both the 410cc and 460cc versions in LH and RH, certainly hasn't validated Steve's "theory." I plugged two Nancy versions for senior women's drivers, 45" and 47" clubs with PE L-flex shafts and one trimmed a bit. They had excellent results...20 to 30 more yards and better control than with the similar weight, but shorter OEM drivers they had been playing. I built a couple of BOM 460cc, at 47" club length with a Graman UL440 "glo-in-the-dark" shafts, with shaft inserted full bore for a 30-something guy with a smooth swing and my 38 year-old son who really rips at the ball and can hit a few balls to 300 yards on occasion. The smooth swinger told me he went from 250 with a 45" OEM to almost 275 yards with the BOM on his best hits, so he ordered a Bangenstein for his senior dad. Haven't heard how that one worked out yet. The Bangenstein also seems like a very good performer for a 78 year-old lefty friend of mine. (Watched him hit it well and down the middle all day, winning a few bucks for our team a couple of weeks ago. When I hit my best drive of the day about 250, he was only 10 yards back.) The BOM seems to work fine either plugged to 1�" depth or unplugged, though I hit more fades with my 48", 460cc BOM with shaft at full bore than I do with my 48" Integra Super450 (original, better performance, thin-face version with SP700 on face) at 1�" bore...even with a slightly lighter swingweight, same shaft and NF2 target shaft deflection as well as similar specs. The S450 actually hits the ball a little farther than the BOM for me, too, even when I hit the BOM straight.
