I mentioned this several years ago and the thread
keeps popping up. The last time, a few days ago, someone was wondering how to
keep a grip from exploding while applying air pressure. Here's a repeat of the
description of the sleeves I made up in the late 80's.
I obtained the leather from the outside back of
an old chair from a local furniture upholsterer. I cut a piece 10 1/4" wide x
11" long. I sewed a piece of 2" wide velcro along the edge of the 11" length. I
sewed the mating piece of velcro on the opposite side of the leather, 4" in from
the edge.
To use, start wrapping the grip from the
non-velcro edge of the leather. The opposite side velcro will lock onto the
mating half. Inject a little solvent into the vent hole at the butt end of the
grip and apply a low pressure stream of air to the vent. Hold onto the wrap,
squeeze, twist, and pull. Sometimes the grip comes off, sometimes not. But
that's how you use the wrap.
