Are you using a good shaft puller/head pusher?
I don't like a heat gun for this. Titleist drivers aren't significantly
different than any other driver except it takes a little more time. I use a
propane torch for heat. I heat the head before placing it in the puller. I
let it set for a while, then I apply pressure to the head with the puller
screw and gradually add heat, moving the flame over the hosel and sole in
short bursts. It takes a while but there's no reason to fry the paint. You
could get some of that stuff Maltby sells. Spray it on the head as required
and heat the head. Apply plenty of pressure with the puller. The head should
come off with no problems.
I just "short stepped" a new Titleist 905. It had a Fujikura Speeder Pro, S
flex. The owner, a scratch player, couldn't keep from hitting it low right.
I pulled the shaft and reinstalled it to a 1 3/8" depth, plugged the bottom
end and gave it back to the guy. He's killing it. Pulling and short stepping
was no problem at all.

Hi,
having trouble with taking the shaft out of titleist drivers. No matter the
amount of heat- I am
using a heat gun - the head gets scorched. Any suggestions? Tricks.
Thanks,
