Good Afternoon John,
I'm writing from the extremely sunny Valley of the Sun, Phoenix
AZ. My family and I evacuated New Orleans just before Katrina hit,
and headed to St. Louis. Then, we had to make a decision. Our
apartment and everything in it was destroyed by the Hurricane. The
roof of our building was completely blown off (it's in our patio!)
and then the apartment flooded due to the heavy rains. We evacuated
with about 3 changes of clothes each, my wife grabbed some photo
albums, and we were off.
The good news is that my family is safe. Also, two of our
vehicles are doing great, the third, not so much. Everything that
was left behind can be replaced. It'll just take some time. We
decided to settle here because we lived here in the late 80's when I
was in the Air Force. We really liked the area. It's a good place
to start over.
I just wanted to drop you a short line to say how much I
appreciate what you are doing through Shoptalk. I have been a member
for a long time, but am an infrequent poster. I still learn a lot
each day. The generosity of people that I don't know has been really
overwhelming. I hope that some day I may repay it.
