My opinion is that the only factor of a shaft that influences
head speed, other than length, is weight. Some people can swing a lighter shaft faster, while for others a heavier shaft can improve their swing mechanics/tempo and see a speed increase. (For example, there is empirical evidence that backweighting increases some people's swing speeds). I can easily see how Flex can affect accuracy, but no way should it be able to increase swingspeed. The shaft is the transmission, NOT the engine. Here is a simple test. Lay an A-flex shaft and an S-flex shaft side-by-side on the ground.
