Regardless of the diameter of the wire/string, it will feel larger
after installation of the grip. One problem to consider is that a Winn
grip, with it's underlisting and wrap poly is more difficult to "bump
up" than say, a Tour Velvet. I don't recall the last one I did . . .
it's been a while and most likely it was a piece of 16 gauge wire
under a leather wrap. But, I'd suggest a length of bare copper (not
steel) wire that's about 14 to 16 gauge. Those are pretty common sizes
of household wire, such as that found in Romex cable. You may want to
try a test with a junk grip first.

t Tflan thanks What diameter do you recommend if it's to small it
wont feel right and if its too large will it run the risk of not
conforming?

Lay a piece of string or wire along the butt end of the shaft, tape
it as
usual, and slip the grip on.

Can any one help?
I would like a Winn grip with a rib but they don't make one what is
the best way to put a rib in a round grip
and ensure conformity
