In 30 minutes of random point checks (about 30-40 points) SG was always within 2.5 yds of the DGPS. I didn't keep records, but I'd estimate that >90% of the readings were within 2 yards and maybe 70% were about 1.5 yard or less. All readings were done locked on to at least 7 satellites.
This is consistent with my previous experience (10 years or so) with various quality GPS units. It is also pretty close to published specs for GPS in general (maybe a little better, actually).
On the golf course, it comes down to how accurately the locations are entered into the database (that's what the handheld is measuring -- the calculated distance to some point that someone has logged into the db. The bottom line is that, assuming the person who plotted the reference points was reasonably careful and observed good practice -- multiple readings, letting the unit "settle" at each position, etc. -- GPS-derived distances on the course should be within a couple of yards of true.
And, IMHO, if your distance control is good enough that that sort of error is too much, you're probably playing the wrong tour.

They are + or - 1 yard. I checked checked them against our G.P.S. sprinkler heads yardages and they were amazingly close.
The most accurate of the 3 units I have tested are the Sky Caddie and the I Golf.
