Brian,
There is another school of thought at weight (total and swingweight/moi) makes a significant difference.

I don't, in general, disagree with Lloyd that getting the correct frequency shaft is important.  However, my *opinion* is that you can get the frequency correct within a broad range of values without too much harm.  However, even minor weight changes can have significant changes on impact position.

I should also point out that my use of "frequency" includes "bend profile".  The butt frequency of the shaft is of little value.  However, where and how the shaft bends is important.  A simple example is a "tip stiff" shaft.  A more complex example is a shaft where the butt, middle, and tip have different characteristics.  (Current bend profiles, both frequency and deflection, actually have more data points than just butt, middle, and tip - but you get the idea).

The correct frequency shaft will do more for distance and consistency then
any club head on the market. You may find some small changes with club head
but nothing to compare with the changes you can get with the correct
frequency shaft.

I'm still looking for the perfect driver.

Actually, still using my Bang SRVII, but thought about moving up to 460cc

(from 340). Didn't know if the extra size, and in theory, the more
forgiving square head, would get me more distance or consistency.

Probably just chasing my tail.

Brian,
Just curious. What is driving you (pun intended) to purchase a square
driver?

Has anyone tried the square drivers?

The one in particular that I'm considering is the Raven version.

I'm afraid I've only ever used Raven Irons. Can you tell me if they
typically make good drivers, or any information about their square one
specifically.

The shaft I was considering was their platinum extreme, just because
it's heavier.

Any thoughts?
