Through a very strange series of events, I met (via email) a young
golfer named Bill Rankin. Turns out he lives less than a mile from my
summer home in northern Michigan and that he was leaving for Scotland
to play in the R&A's British Amateur. I asked him to write a dairy of
his experience at the Championship and he has agreed to do so.
I hope my Shoptalk friends from Scotland attending the tournament
will look Bill up and wish him well.
