Hello John:

I have just a minor thing that may or may not be useful: A golfer in our Monday night league broke the shaft on one of his wedges. It was broken flush with the stainless steel hosel. The graphite shaft tip and shafting epoxy was so hard I had difficulty in trying to drill out the hosel. I used a small blow torch to heat the hosel until the shaft tip and epoxy caught fires; looked like a minature volcano. All I had to do was to remove the ashes and clean the inside of the hosel with a bronze brush. Since it was a wedge I prepped the tip of the old shaft and and re-fitted it to the club. The golfer was really pleased with the effort; especially the fairly low cost - $25 plus sales tax.

Subject: ShopTalk: Technical Articles

I'm looking for clubmaking articles to add to my resource pages. How-to, cheapo shortcuts and workarounds, fitting, shaft profiling...anything about the technical aspects of custom clubmaking. I'd credit the author and link to your web site if applicable. Any interest?
