I built and used a similar club years back and loved it, even won our seniors yearly championship with it! had a 45 gram shaft 47" long. Got the ~170 gram head used from some one on Shoptalk. It worked best with shaft 1 flex greater than my usual. I always thought this was because the lighter head generated less tension in the shaft. Looked for larger lighter head but couldn't find one!

We had a "demo day" at out club last Friday. Callaway, Cobra, Titleist, Srixon and Cleveland. I tried about a dozen clubs - drivers, fairways, rescues, irons, wedges, whatever they had - hit about 500 balls. What the hell, it was free But what grabbed me was a Cleveland driver that was designed "for the Asian Market". 46 1/2" long, 40 gram shaft, 180 gram 12 deg loft head, Winn grip. SW about D3 or thereabout. I've built several long drivers for myself with the lightest possible components, heavy grips. I never got a SW below the mid-E range and could never hit the damn things. So I was reluctant to hit this one. Our pro was there bugging me about my low screamers off the tee, hit with virtually every driver I own. So I picked up the super light Cleveland. Teed up a ball, took a swipe at it with my pitiful lurch. Topped it. Did it again. Topped it. Did it again, high balloon right, no distance. Did it again, low left screamer. The pro teed one up for me - high. Moved my stance so that the ball was off my left toe. "Now swing at it Tommy". Hot damn! Long, high and straight! And a really solid feel. I couldn't believe it. I hit about 30 balls with that club and rarely hit a bad one. Absolutely astounding. My horrible lunge with that club was carrying shots to our 200 yard marker, then rolling another 20 - 25 yards, to the base of the screen at the end of the range. Now that may seem like nothing to you long knockers but at my age and with my slappy swing, it's pretty exciting. Naturally I started looking for components - 40 gram shafts and 180 deg heads. Couldn't find any. So back to the pro. "How much for that driver?" $300.00 but for you $250, no tax, no shipping. If you want one get it now cuz there's very limited stock. Ugh! A dilemma.
Great, surprising club though.
