I have implemented a bunch of changes in how my web site works. There should not be any resulting changes in content or addressing; if you have saved links to any of my stuff, they should still work. It may look slightly different -- and the look may continue to change -- but the navigation and the content should still be the same.

If you experience any problems or notice links that don't work, please let me know. If they are internal, I'll try to fix them. If they are external, that means somebody else has changed their web site; but maybe I can find a suitable substitute.

I am also entertaining suggestions for changes to the format. (One suggestion I may implement is a search capability for the site. But that won't happen until I'm sure this first transition went smoothly.)

For those of you who do web sites yourself, I have completely rewritten my content management system. I may put together a document soon about how the new system works. I'm pretty proud of it, because it meets a few rather difficult requirements: * Each file on the server is either pure content or pure formatting. A PHP program builds the page by combining the content and the formatting. If I want to change the format, I just change and download formatting files, and every content page is affected automatically. (This is the essence of a good content-management system.) * It allows exactly the same URLs as before to reach the same content. This is important because lots of readers and even other sites have links to my content -- and I don't want those links to break. And I don't want to have to start over with search engines ranking my pages from scratch. * It allows me to edit, create, and manage content files on my PC. The files are HTML content-only, no format, and are arranged in the same folder hierarchy as on the web server.

Thanks,
DaveT
