Ed:

Thanks for the feedback. I have drawings for a mallet design, but that is as
far it has gone. Sales have been brisk, but I would still like to hear more
feedback before investing into tooling.

  Jeff,
Yes, I've seen it. It is a great start at addressing the problem. However,
you need more variety of head shapes than you currently have. I'd also like to
have center-shafted heads and more options for varying the headweights.

If you did expand the line you would have, as far as I know, the only
affordable putter fitting system in existence. I hope that there is a market
for this.

Thanks John! Inquisitive minds want to know how things work and this
started out as an R&D product that went mainstream. I have had guys use this
to test for toe hang, offset, grip sizing and such using the TOMI and SAM
PuttLab. Take a lot of guess work out of it...Jeff

pretty nifty, Jeff. Wish I would have thought of that!
Here's info on it. Three neck options (plumbers, straight, slant):

Have you seen something like the Dynacraft SPOT putter from Hireko. We
set this up as an affordable way to test for a variety of specifications with
the addition of multiple hosel pieces.

          John,
A topic close to my heart. The opinion of a lot of clubfitters is
that
full-bore putter fitting (e.g., Edel) is not a money maker. You are
better off, as you are thinking, to just tweak a golfer's existing
putter (length, lie/loft, head/backweight). You won't be giving them
their ultimate putter, but they'll be better off than they were
before.

IMHO an affordable putter-fitting system does not currently exist. I
base this upon the belief that, as does Edel, the look of the putter
has
a huge effect on the golfer's ability to naturally aim it (this is
what
you are proposing does not address). In order to cover the bases you
need different head shapes, shaft offsets, etc., etc. that you can
mix
and match until the golfer can point it where he thinks he's aiming.
These variables require either a huge inventory of putters or an
interchangeable component system. There is no inexpensive way to
          achieve this.

Getting the aiming done is step one, from there on you address the
other
variables like length, lie, loft, weight, grip, face insert, etc.

One last comment. Even if you had the ultimate fitting system would
you
get enough business to make it profitable? I'm not sure. One place
I
know that had the old Kirk Curry system got rid of it because their
members, who nearly all had custom fit clubs, would show up with
putters
they had given to them or they picked up on a whim. It's hard to
sell
against the current "hot putter" on tour.

I'll leave the specific questions you asked for others to answer.

Any good resources on putter fitting? Any of you have any hot
tips/words of wisdom on this subject?

I'm thinking a putter analysis at the course I do a little work at
            might be fun.
From a few things I've read, it looks like checking loft and lie
would be the main things to work on.

Is putter loft/lie fitting done dynamically (like irons), i.e.
watch
a few putts and if they tend to pull left putter is too
upright/push
            right then too flat?
Will a static measurement while they address the ball tell
anything?
