Just an idea:  I have seen irons with the shaft bonded to a pin that goes 
INSIDE the shaft.  Many putters use this type of connection.Considering that 
the amount of stress on a gap wedge isn't likely to be great (and despite the 
fact that modern iron shafts are both designed and intended to go INSIDE a 
hosel), I wonder if, in this case, an adapter could be fashioned to accept a 
shaft over a mating pin? 0.02--Ron
