Shorewall 4.0.0 RC1 has been uploaded and is being replicated to the
mirrors. The RC1 documentation is available in the 4.0/ directory on the
web sites (e.g., http://www.shorewall.net/4.0/).

While Shorewall 4.0.0 RC1 contains Shorewall-perl, installation and use
of Shorewall-perl is optional. You may continue to use the shell-based
configuration compiler (Shorewall-shell) with this release.

Shorewall 4.0.0 is nearly identical to Shorewall 3.4.4 when using
Shorewall-shell so the migration issues are minimal. Nevertheless, the
packaging of Shorewall has changed since 3.4.4 so it is essential that
you carefully review the release notes
(http://www.shorewall.net/pub/shorewall/development/4.0/shorewall-4.0.0-RC1/releasenotes.txt)
before attempting to upgrade.

Shorewall-perl-4.0.0-RC1 cannot be installed under Shorewall 3.4.4 (or
at least the RPM cannot). So if you want to use
Shorewall-perl-4.0.0-RC1, please install the other RC1 components along
with Shorewall-perl.
