Just a heads up on the performance gain I've found switching to the perl compiler :
I'm just experimenting with Shorewall 4 at work. I have a config which under version 3 takes about 90s to start on a 1GHz Celeron. The same (or as near as I can make it with the new bridging setup) takes about 7s on a Xen VM with an 860MHz Pentium III when using shorewall perl. As this config is a bridge doing traffic logging, we're impressed with the way Tom has managed to make the best of the physdev matching changes and produced such a wonderful boost in performance. Thanks Tom. I'll be looking at how best to manage the upgrade of the production box soon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
