You can correct the problem in other more permanent ways:

Either:

a) Reconfigure Squid to not use Ident user ids. The reason for the slow
response is that Squid is sending Ident requests (TCP port 113) to the
client system. The client system is dropping these requests and the default
Squid Ident timeout is 10 seconds.

b) Open TCP Port 113 in the Vista firewall.
